The Battle for the GODLIKE Might!
Double Kill! Triple Kill! Killing Spree!.. Familiar huh? DotA fanatic? Well I play DotA Allstars or Defense of the Ancients for quite a time and me myself was very fascinated with the whole custom map to the great Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne through the Blizzard Map Editor now developed and maintained by IceFrog and his fellow development team (you all rock!) as far as I know.
Well who’s do not know DotA by the way?! Hmm..this may sound cheezy, however, let me inform you the basics (for the others sake! you bulls***).
Every player (you) can pick to either Sentinel or Scourge base before the game begin (except if the game mode -sp is initiated). At the start of the game proper, Game Modes can be initiated for visual/sound effects, hero picking options, battle mode changes and more. Here are some of the game modes WE usually use that can be typed before the game.
Primary Game Modes (Only useable by the game host.)
-
-ap(allpick) Everyone may pick heroes from any tavern
-
-ar(allrandom) Every player gets a random hero from any tavern
- -sd (singledratft) Every player will be randomly given 3 different heroes, 1 Str type, 1 Agi type and 1 Int type to choose from.
Secondary Game Modes (Only useable by the game host.)
- -dm (Deathmatch) – if you die you will pick a new hero once you can respawn.
- -sc (Supercreeps) – a super creep may spawn for each side and follow the normal creeps in either lane
- -np (No Powerups) – no runes will spawn.
- -sp (Shuffle Players) – the teams will be randomly shuffled, includes your color and team you are on.
- -ai / aa / as (All Int / All Agi/ All Str) – Only Int or Agi or Str type heroes can be chosen respectively.
What is a hero? A Hero is a unit that were brought under your control in order to accomplish your mission (to defend the ancients that’s why it’s Defense of the Ancients!!) together with the assigned creeps per base. A hero can be selected when player (you) starts the game through the Hero Taverns that located at the bottom left of your base if you’re a Sentinel side (Morning Tavern, Light Tavern, Dawn Tavern, Sunrise Tavern) and as for the Scourge player, the taverns are located at the top right corner of your base (Evening Tavern, Dark Tavern, Dusk Tavern, Midnight Tavern).
Now, every hero has its three common stats attribute. Those were Strength, Agility and my favorite stat Intelligence. Pretty cool huh?, the hero now has its Primary Attribute as the source of their Attack Power. Every stat attribute contributes to the wholeness of a hero. Strength provides the increment of the hero’s Hit Points (HP) as well as its regeneration rate. Agility on the other hand, is the one that which increases the Attack Speed and the Armor of the hero. While my favorite Intelligence stat is the one which gives Mana Points (MP) and which increases its regeneration rate. Every stat added to the hero through skills or from the purchased items will adopt to the hero and automatically increases its assigned contribution.
Speaking of items, Items are used to develop a chosen hero by means of its offensive effects, additional stats, increasing speeds (movement, attack speed, HP/MP regen rate), aura giving effects and defense boosting items. “Azteeg” right?! Items can be bought on your own side of your base by means of Gold. DON’T WORRY!..There are few ways to earn gold in this game. Killing opponent heroes, the opponent creeps in each lane and the Neutral Creeps also gives gold and the normal gold allocation every player 1 gold per 0.8 – 0.95 seconds as far as I know.
Naaahhh…I’m already get tired jotting down this crap! Apologies if there are some mistakes above, this is my own blog anyways! HAHA..I’ll continue some other day discussing DotA basics. Just enjoy your DotA AllStars gaming!
